About the Author
Gregory L. Charvat is co-founder of Butterfly Network Inc. and visiting research scientist at the Camera Culture Group at MIT Media Lab.
Dr. Charvat grew up in the metro Detroit area, where, at a young age, he would take apart old television sets and radios. Dr. Charvat eventually started making in high school amateur radio equipment and a radio telescope, and in college he learned to develop radar systems. He earned a PhD in electrical engineering in 2007, an MSEE in 2003, and a BSEE in 2002 from Michigan State University.
