Introduction

The book identifies seven ‘rules’ of common sense – rules which will enable you to stop overcomplicating the issues that you encounter every day.

In keeping with the first of the seven rules – that many things are simple – the book is simple. There are seven chapters. Each chapter follows the same organisation:

  • Questions At the beginning of each chapter there are some questions to get you thinking. In a sense, these questions test whether and how much you think in a common-sense sort of way.
  • The rule Here I outline the concept of the chapter.
  • How to Shows you how to apply the rule.
  • Examples/Applications These are examples of applying the particular rule. These could relate to one particular rule, or several in combination.
