Things don’t get done if people don’t do them

This chapter makes the rather obvious point that things won’t be done if people don’t do them. In particular, things won’t get done if people don’t have the time to do them.

Take a minute to answer these two questions:

  1. You’ve been called in to ‘rescue’ of a project or venture. There is a plan that is actually current. The plan has a well-defined goal and a comprehensive list of jobs (sequence of events). In looking at the plan you find that lots of the jobs have phrases such as ‘New hire’, ‘TBD’, ‘A N Other’ against them, i.e. generic names rather than real people’s names. Is this the main reason why the venture went wrong?
