In Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, I discussed two distinct information disclosure scenarios that occur as a result of brilliant, but in the end poorly thought out, attempts to make computers either more functional or easier to maintain. The passive snooping vectors these design decisions open are buried deep beneath the actual implementation and provide a fascinating insight into the earliest threats to processed information.
