Service providers are increasing in number on a regular basis. OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and COTS (commercial off the shelf) providers have been focusing beyond product supply and on providing a cloud-based product service such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service or Software-as-a-Service. These new offerings are complementing traditional tower-based services such as data centre services and unified communications, for example.

Customer organisations are taking more of a “plug and play” approach to sourcing their service providers, looking for agility, innovation, and cost reduction. This strategy is leading to an increasing prevalence of multi-sourced models.
