Configuring the HTTP Connector

You can use the HTTP connector to connect to your Hotmail account, or to an Exchange 2003 server which can be configured to securely connect your Exchange server via HTTP. This feature requires at least one Exchange 2003 server to act as a proxy to translate RPC (Remote Procedure Call) communications between the internal Exchange and Active Directory servers into MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface)-over-HTTP packets, which are then exchanged with Outlook 2003. It also uses the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) of HTTPS to encrypt data and authentication credentials to and from the Outlook clients.
