Receiving and Reading Messages

Messages that have been sent to you are stored on your e-mail server until Outlook retrieves them. By default, Outlook retrieves your mail at regular intervals. You can also retrieve your messages between scheduled retrieval times by clicking the Send/Receive button. When a message is retrieved, its message header appears in the Outlook Inbox. Click the message header to display the contents of the message in the Reading pane, which increases the area for reading your e-mail. If you receive e-mail messages in plain-text format with extra blank lines that make reading the message difficult, Outlook uses Text AutoCleanup to remove the extra lines when you view the message in the Reading pane, open the message, or ...
