Getting the Directory Location

Sometimes moving into another directory using the Terminal utility is not the hard part, typing in the correct path is. This is where you'll use a combination of the Macintosh Graphical User Interface, and the Terminal window. When you drag a folder, file, or application into the Terminal window, you'll see the exact path to that item. The drag and drop method of identifying location is an excellent way to determine the exact path structure to any item on a Macintosh computer. In addition, if you first type in a command such as cd (change directory), you can drag an item into the terminal and execute the command on the selected item.
