Mounting and Ejecting Disks

When you insert a disk (such as a removable, CD, or DVD), it's icon appears, or mounts, in the Computer window, in the Sidebar, and on the desktop (unless you've changed Finder Preferences) for you to open and use. When you no longer need a disk, you eject, or dismount, it from the drive. Mac OS X provides several different ways to eject a disk: drag the disk icon to the Trash (only happens for disks; a little strange, but its old time Mac functionality), select the Eject command, use the Sidebar (), or hold down the Eject key.
