Appendix A. Office Version Compatibility

SharePoint works with Office 2000, 2002 (XP), and 2003. The feature set varies a great deal between these versions. Basically, all versions allow you to save and open files from SharePoint sites through a browser; Office 2002 supports some integration; and Office 2003 provides full integration through the Shared Documents task pane. The following table outlines how SharePoint works with the various versions of Office.

Note that SharePoint is not fully compatible with Office 2004 for the Mac. Office 2004 (Mac) can open files that came from a SharePoint server, but the program doesn't have any understanding of SharePoint features.
