7. SharePoint Content Types
In this chapter we are going to discover the world of SharePoint content types. We are going to learn about the content types that ship with SharePoint 2010 and how to create new content types from the SharePoint UI and from Visual Studio 2010. Since this book is focused on SharePoint development with Visual Studio 2010 we are going to show you how to deploy the content type together with site columns and a list definition in a single Visual Studio solution. At the end of the chapter we will touch on Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) customized documents. We will also show how to use content type information in Word 2010 documents and how to update that information.
