TUNERS AND TUNING SYSTEMS

There are very distinct parallels between the tuning systems used in satellite receivers and those encountered by many readers in TV and VCR. Conversely there are a number of interesting differences. We shall see throughout this chapter what can go wrong and what to do about it. There are many theoretical factors relating to tuning and tuners that should be absorbed from other sources.

The tuner

In Fig. 7.1, we can see the typical extent of a satellite receiver tuner which is a self-contained can module as with most varicap TV and VCR tuners.
