Chapter 11. Tools
Numerous tools are used during a CBD project, many of which are common to all types of software development project. This chapter focuses on those tools that are specifically used in a component- or service-based development approach. Often, software vendors bundle tools that provide 'point solutions' into offerings with a much wider applicability. In line with the topic of this book and Select Perspective, component- and service-based bundles are of specific interest. General application development suites will therefore not be considered, in favor of component- and service-oriented tools. Component factories will be outlined first, with more detail on the constituent parts in the following sections.
