What is a disaster?

When thinking of a disastrous event, we usually think of an earthquake, flood, hurricane, war, or act of terrorism. Statistically, though, most DR situations are caused by mundane events. Up to 43% are caused by power failure and up to 13% are caused by a human error.

Studies also show that even though DR may be expensive, every $1 spent on business continuity measures saves around $4 in recovery costs.
