Private App Service Environment

Deploying a Function App in an ASE with a private IP allows the Function App to be completely isolated from the public internet, and to be routable from within the private network only. When deploying the ASE, you will create a private domain, which will be routable only from within the VNet and private networks connected to it.

Private App Service Environment is also referred to as ILB ASE, where ILB stands for Internal load balancer.

To deploy, and be able to browse to, a Function App on a private ASE, you will need to go through all the configuration processes listed as follows:

  1. Deploying the ILB ASE on a private VNet.
  2. Deploying the Function App into the ILB ASE.
