Selling Cable Advertising

When I was a kid in Atlanta, Georgia, we had all the television anyone could watch-three channels! That’s all there was in 1952. And one of those (Channel 11) wasn’t even on the air during the morning hours.

My own fascination with radio and television caused me to spend many afternoons of my 1953 summer vacation watching Channel 11’s fuzzy raster turn to a test pattern and finally to programming. Unfortunately, “programming” meant the same black-and-white cartoons that the station repeated every day or so.
