About the Authors

Jim Heid has been working with and writing about personal computers since 1980, when he computerized his home-built ham radio station with a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I. He has been writing for Macworld magazine since 1984, and has written over a dozen computer books, including the bestselling The Macintosh iLife series, from Peachpit Press and Avondale Media. He has also written for PC World, Internet World, and Newsweek magazines as well as the Los Angeles Times.

Jim was smitten by World Wide Web in 1996. One year later, he dragged his wife and dog on a seven-week, 10,000-mile road trip to research and write about the Internet’s impact on rural America, a trip that was covered by USA Today, the New York Times, and MSNBC.
