Before You Begin

To complete the lesson in this chapter, you should be familiar with Windows networking and be comfortable with the following tasks:

  • Adding roles to a Windows Server 2008 R2 computer

  • Configuring Active Directory directory service domain controllers and joining computers to a domain

  • Basic network configuration, including configuring IP settings

You will also need the following nonproduction hardware, connected to test networks:

  • A computer named Dcsrv1 that is a domain controller in the Nwtraders.msft domain. This computer must have at least one network interface.
