Troubleshooting complex problems requires gaining insight into the inner workings of an application. When you are troubleshooting network problems, one of the best ways to gain insight is to capture and analyze the network communications using a protocol analyzer. Microsoft provides Network Monitor, a powerful protocol analyzer, as a free download.
This lesson explains how to use Network Monitor to record and analyze network traffic. It also describes how to configure computers running Windows Server 2008 R2 to be monitored using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
