Before You Begin

To complete the lessons in this chapter, you must have the following:

  • A Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller named dcsrv1.nwtraders.msft.

  • A computer named boston.nwtraders.msft that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 and that is a member of the Nwtraders domain (file sharing must be enabled on this computer).

  • A computer named binghamton.nwtraders.msft that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 and that is a member of the Nwtraders domain. Binghamton can obtain its IPv4 address via DHCP, or you can assign it a static address such as 192.168.0.3. You can manually assign Binghamton an IPv6 address such as fd00::3, and specify the DNS server in IPv6 as fd00::1.

  • A basic understanding of Windows networking and Group Policy.
