EMBEDDED FIGURES

With “embedded figures,” there is one main figure that is readily seen. In most of the examples in Seeing Double, the figure is a person’s face. However, the face, or whatever the main figure may be, is composed of a large number of smaller figures. In most cases, these smaller figures all have characteristics that relate to each other and all relate in some way to the main figure. Very little explanation is required for you to enjoy this chapter. One can simply appreciate the artists’ skill in arranging and shaping each of the small figures to fit into the primary figure in a meaningful way.
