Basic Terminology

One of the first things required when tackling a new subject area is the vocabulary. Learning security is no different. In an effort to make learning the new terminology easier, we have grouped the terms into common areas. Please note that we only give basic definitions of these terms. As you read this book, you will learn more about them.

Users

The keystone of security is identifying users and processes. Once these are identified, control is possible. The terms that follow are commonly associated with discussions of users and the processes they create:
