The software I use in the procedures described in this book includes:

Cygwin

A POSIX emulation layer for Windows NT/Windows 2000.

NTP

A GPL’d Network Time Protocol (NTP) implementation.

NTsyslog

An NT Event Log to syslog service.

OpenSSH

A free version of the Secure Shell (SSH) suite of network connectivity tools.

OpenSSL

An open source toolkit implementing the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL v2/v3) and Transport Layer Security (TLS v1) protocols, as well as a full-strength, general-purpose cryptography library. OpenSSH relies on the OpenSSL cryptography library.

TCP Wrappers

A library of programs that monitor and filter incoming requests for network services linked against this library.

Virtual Network Computing (VNC)

A remote console system that runs on several platforms.
