Abstract

A business case is important when trying to sell secure VoIP to management. One must understand that in the new world of telecommunications, voice is data and data is too! So the business case for VoIP should also apply to the data and voice networks. Many rules exist that mandate organizations to follow security of certain types of information (health and medical information, credit card information, corporate information). If the rules are not adhered to properly, organizations face stiff fines and executives of these organizations may even face “jail time.” That alone should be enough to get a security plan approved.
