Summary

In this Short Cut I have shown you Vista's most prominent security features. I hope that you have learned a few important points about Vista security, including:

  • The facets of data security are confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA).

  • Vista doesn't do all of the security automatically for you.

  • It is up to you to know what security measures you need to take, given your unique computing and business requirements.

  • You are primarily responsible for the CIA of your data.

  • Security is a moving target. Data thieves and other threats are constantly changing their tactics, which requires us to continually change ours.

  • Ignorance is not bliss. Often, it leads to a compromise of your data.

Security using Vista is still complicated, although a little easier than in earlier versions of Windows.
