Camera Rehearsals
As the stage crafts near the finish of their work, the D.P. signals the 1st A.D. that the stage is now ready for the first team: the principal actors. (The stand-ins are usually referred to as the second team.) Now, the 1st A.D. instructs the 2nd A.D. to once again summon the actors to the camera setup.
REHEARSALS PRIOR TO FILMING
The 1st A.D., having carefully watched all the operations taking shape, inquires of the director whether any foreseeable contingencies need to be addressed before the final dress rehearsal. If all is well, the 1st A.D. calls out, “Let's have a bell.” The sound mixer activates a bell or buzzer.
