Business models in the research environment

Following the line of thought developed in the Introduction, our basic premise is that publishing business models should be commensurate with the research environment and should serve research. This is just another way of saying that publishing business models should be commensurate with the business models in the research environment. Throughout this book we will use the common definition for a business: an organisation aiming at the exchange of goods, services or both, generally to raise revenues, though not necessarily.
