Opening Images and Initial Steps

Privet leaf (Ligustrum vulgare) cross section using Differential Interference Contrast (DIC) illumination and brightfield, acquired on a Zeiss Axioplan 2 microscope using a 20x lens (N.A. 0.8). A Spot 1 camera and SPOT Advanced, version 4.1 software (Diagnostic Instruments, Sterling Heights, MI) were used for acquisition. Several images were combined (photomerged) and final stitched image was color balanced, sharpened, and conformed to printing press, reproducible colors in Photoshop CS3 Extended (Adobe Systems Incorporated, San Jose, CA). Scale bar = 110 microns.
