Wood, as we all know, is harvested from trees. And we all know the basic parts of a tree: roots, trunk, branches, and leaves. The trunk, being the thickest part, is the one that various wooden boards are harvested from. In this chapter, we discuss these types of boards. But before we do, let's think about how a tree works and how that affects a board's strength.
