Electronic businesses must continuously guarantee quality of service to avoid losing sales and customers. Security, performance, and availability are key issues for any e-business site. This chapter introduced a reference model for electronic business that creates a framework for the quantitative approach developed in the book. It also gives an overview of the main steps required to analyze the behavior and performance of electronic business sites.
