14   Awareness structure for cognitive wireless systems

14.1 Introduction

In this chapter, the awareness needed by the network to identify opportunities to make decisions to maximize its capability, density, and/or scaling is developed (Figure 14.1). The awareness developed by the wireless network must establish the criteria for sensing and exchange, the density effects and mitigation, the scaling of the control plane, and the content-access entropy, as well as the decision-making opportunities identified previously. This will result in an awareness structure that can adapt to the tensions between these objectives, and to local conditions and demands.
