10 Network physical density limitations
In this chapter, we consider the impact of a variety of network decisions on the likely density of wireless networks, and investigate proactive decision processes that can ensure that wireless networks are scalable to plausible device densities (Figure 10.1). This is driven by the induced environment of the network itself, and the neighbor density. We consider actions that can be taken by wireless networks to exploit frequency-specific propagation characteristics to balance communications and interference paths.
