Adam Smith was a master of "one-liners." This is hardly surprising given the fact that he began his illustrious career giving lectures on rhetoric! Readers will be delighted to explore Smith's colorful writings firsthand. For copyright purposes, all quotations from Adam Smith's works (except where noted) come from early editions that are in the public domain, namely:
