You can organize MDM users into groups called roles, based on their security permissions and privileges.
Each user of the MDM repository is assigned a username and password. These login credentials would need to be provided before performing any MDM-related tasks in the Console such as connecting to the repository, loading/unloading the repository, and so on.
Apart from this there are role-based privileges that are assigned to all MDM users. These privileges, to name a few, include adding, modifying, deleting records, adding/deleting taxonomy attributes, and so on.
