ITS Architecture

The SAP Internet Transaction Server (ITS) provides the middleware that bridges between the SAPGUI technology and common web browser technology (see Figure 12-1). SAP ITS is part of the SAP Basis System and is delivered on the regular installation CDs. The task of the SAP ITS is to present an HTML page for every SAP transaction. To the web, the ITS offers the services of a web application server; to the SAP system, it looks exactly like a regular SAPGUI. All business processing is directed to the SAP application server; there is no transaction processing on the ITS itself.
