The Internet Transaction Server (ITS) is SAP's generic gateway between the web and the SAP core systems. In classic SAP R/3 infrastructures, ITS is used to connect occasional users to SAP services without the need to install an SAPGUI on any PC in an enterprise. In a mySAP.com environment, where the majority of the users access multitudes of SAP services via browser technologies, ITS plays an even more essential role. This chapter is therefore focused on SAP's ITS architecture and performance together with security aspects of Internet communication.
