Determining the Server's Configuration
The factors that influence the throughput and response time of the SAP system include both the customer requirements as well as the hardware and software versions chosen. The focus of this section is on determining the hardware requirements based on the release level of SAP software. It is assumed the database and operating systems do not play a major role in the overall performance and sizing aspect, however, the latest supported versions are always assumed to be in use. Although there certainly are differences among the OS and database versions, the configuration and usage of the SAP application is by far the largest factor in determining the hardware requirements.
