CHAPTER 26SAP Upgrade of the Java Stack
In this chapter we will focus on upgrading the Java stack. There are several SAP solutions that run on SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java. One good example is SAP NetWeaver Portal. However, some of them run on dual-stack (both ABAP and Java) application servers. Good examples of dual-stack applications are SAP Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and SAP Process Integration (PI). In this chapter we will use the SAP PI application upgrade as an example so that we have an opportunity to study not only the Java stack upgrade but also the synchronized upgrade procedure used to perform a dual-stack (ABAP + Java) upgrade.
