Troubleshooting and diagnostics The SAN Volume Controller ( SVC) is a very robust and reliable virtualization engine with a five “ 9s” ( 99.999%) availability. Nevertheless from time to time, problems occur. In this chapter, we provide an overview about common problems that can occur in your environment. We discuss and explain problems within the SVC and SAN environments, subsystem storage arrays, hosts, and multipathing drivers. Furthermore, we explain how to collect the necessary data and how to overcome these problems. 15
