Don’t judge the capability of a device by the number of buttons you see. On the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK, most of the action is in your hands. This chapter looks at touching the touchscreen. The next chapter covers tapping (and swiping and talking to) the keyboard.

warning.eps Like any piece of advanced electronics, your NOOK tablet’s touchscreen could be damaged if it touches a high-voltage device. Don’t leave it on top of a TV or a microwave oven, and don’t play static electricity games with socks on a carpet.

Keying In on the Basics

Your tablet has two physical keys on its right side: Power/Lock and Volume. Three keys sit below the LCD screen. That’s it. Picasso would be proud.

Table 2-1 lists their names and functions. The location I provide is based on holding the tablet in portrait mode (taller than wide) with the word Samsung at the top.
