Chapter 18. Working with NetWare

NetWare was the first usable network operating system for PC networks. Other vendors had created networks, and some had looked at the PC, but Novell got there first. While NetWare is no longer the company to beat for networking, it still has a large loyal following of users. The main reason is that NetWare is extremely reliable, and it works with multiple platforms.

Today we’ll look at how to work with NetWare when using Windows XP. Fortunately, unlike Linux, Microsoft provides some support for NetWare right out of the box. This support is enough to access NetWare resources but not enough to perform configuration tasks. Because of this limitation, we’ll also discuss how to install the NetWare client.
