Review the following list of key terms:

  • arp— A utility that configures and displays the contents of the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) table.

  • File Transfer Protocol (FTP)— A client/server utility and protocol used to transfer files between two computers. In addition to transferring files, the FTP utility can create and remove directories and display the contents of directories.

  • Hostname— A utility that outputs the hostname of the local host.

  • ifconfig— A Unix/Linux utility that displays TCP/IP configuration information.

  • ipconfig— A Windows utility that displays TCP/IP configuration information.
