Configuring DHCP

The DHCP client receives a bundle of configuration information from the DHCP server. That information includes the IP address and other configuration settings. Because the client receives almost all its information from the DHCP server, the client requires almost no configuration. DHCP is often enabled by default. If you’re not sure, look for a simple check box in the TCP/IP configuration dialog.

To configure Windows Vista as a DHCP client:

Select Control Panel in the Start menu.

Double-click on the Network and Sharing Center.
3.
Click on Manage Network Connections.
4.
Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties. (You might need to enter an admin password.)
