Appendix A. Places Categories

One of the most important decisions you’ll make about your Google Places page is the category or categories in which it will be listed. Categories are important because they are used for several purposes:

• Supporting search in Google Search, Google Maps, and elsewhere

• Supporting Nearby Places You Might Like and Related Maps on your Google Places page

• Direct display of the category or categories on your Google Places page
