Client Dependence and Independence

As you know, your SAP system can have multiple legal entities or environments in which you can store data, called clients. Clients contain separate master records and their own set of tables, and reference tables shared across clients as well. Thus, some tables are client-specific, whereas other tables can be “seen” by all clients.

Client-Independent Data

Some tables in your system—for example, tables that store SAP error codes and messages—are the same in all your SAP clients. The data in these types of tables is the same regardless of the client you happen to be logged into. These types of tables are called client-independent tables.
