Which SAP GUI Is Right?

With the JavaGUI, WebGUI (for Windows-based browser system), and a number of flavors of the SAP GUI at your disposal, a bit of insight is in order so that you can select the best user interface for your purposes. Take into consideration the following points when choosing a user interface:

  • The functionality required by the end users

  • The average user’s front-end client hardware platform (hardware details, including CPU speed, amount of RAM, and amount of disk space available)

  • The average user’s front-end client Operating System platform (Windows, Unix, Linux, Mac OS)

  • The network infrastructure servicing the users (don’t forget about remote users—do they access SAP over a slow WAN link or even slower dial-up?)

  • Installation ramifications ...
