Session Basics
Each time you connect to SAP via the SAP GUI user interface you begin a user session. An SAP session simply means you have started the SAP GUI (the SAP graphical user interface) and established a connection with a particular SAP system—you’re connected, so to speak. You can have multiple sessions open with multiple SAP components—such as SAP ECC, R/3, CRM, and so on—or you can open one or more sessions with a single system. The number of the current session is displayed in the status bar, which you will see in a few minutes.
