This lesson looked in more depth at how Word 2003 documents can be used with SharePoint. The best practice is to first check out the document in the library and then use the Edit in Microsoft Office Word option. This lets other users know the document is reserved for editing by a specific individual. Once a document is opened from a SharePoint document library, the Shared Workspace task pane is made available (in Word 2003). The different tabs in the task pane were covered in this lesson.
