Word 2003 and Office 2003 Product Integration with SharePoint 2003
Many of the documents stored in document libraries in SharePoint will be Microsoft Word documents. Although older versions of Word can be used to edit these documents, using Word 2003 offers the Shared Workspace task pane, which provides a wealth of tools that enhance the connectivity between the document and SharePoint. This task pane is also available in other Office 2003 products, including Excel 2003, PowerPoint 2003, and Visio 2003.
Previous versions of Word can be used, but you will not get the Shared Workspace task pane feature, and some of the additional features discussed in this lesson won't be available. SharePoint is certainly still useful with older versions of Office ...
