Copying Files by Using the Explorer View

The main reason most people use the Explorer view is to move documents from one library to another. As discussed previously in Lesson 5, “Document Library Basics,” and Lesson 6, “Picture Library Basics,” a SharePoint document library or picture library provides the Upload a file or Add a picture option in the toolbar. This opens a new window that allows you to browse for one or more documents you want to upload and to enter in metadata information, if the library has metadata columns added. If you use the Explorer view instead, you won't get prompted to add in this metadata, but you will need to add it later.
